Welcome to Ynysybwl & Coed-y-cwm Community Council

  

Ynysybwl & Coed-y-cwm Community Council consists of 12 members that represent the residents and businesses of Ynysybwl & Coed-y-Cwm. The Councillors are elected by the public to serve a term of mostly four years. They give up their time on a voluntary basis and are not paid for the work they do, nor do they receive expenses.

The Community Council has one paid employee, Paula Evans, who is Clerk of the Community Council. The Clerk is based at Ynysybwl Community Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (please see contact page for YCC opening times). Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month at Ynysybwl Community Centre, Windsor Place, Ynysybwl at 6.45pm, with the exception of August. The Notice of the Monthly meetings are placed on the notice board in the village and in Coed-y-Cwm and also on the website.

Are you aware that the community council pays for the following:-

Water charges at Butchers Pool
Christmas street lights
Senior citizens Christmas dinners
Ynysybwl Playscheme which covers all school holidays
Fireworks display
Summer flowers
Main contributor to the summer festival
The PA system and service booklets for remembrance concert and service

The council also provide grants to many local voluntary groups and some individuals within Ynysybwl & Coed Y Cwm .
For instance the council has paid for the start up costs of the football for children in the village, new rugby kit for mini and junior rugby, Busy Bees sewing group, contributed to the Ynysybwl Bowls Club and Trerobart School to purchase a new shed to house games equipment.
The community centre has benefitted from a new cooker to ensure it can continue to operate.
We have provided funds to Ynysybwl Enterprise Project to put on the festival, paying for the stage, insurance for the event and toilets for public convenience.
Ynysybwl Community Project runs the play scheme and have applied for grants for resources to run the scheme.

Council Meetings

Ynysybwl & Coed-y-cwm Community Council meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month at the Ynysybwl Community Centre at a pre-arranged date and time. Please note there are no meetings during August. The Agenda for the meeting is also available on the Minutes page.

Recycle Bags

Recycling bags, both household waste and food waste are now available for collection from the Ynysybwl Community Centre during the opening hours of:

Monday - 9:00am - 3:30pm
Tuesday - 9:00am - 2:00pm
Wednesday - 9:00am - 2:00pm
Thursday - 9:00am - 1:30pm
Friday - 9:30am - 1:30pm
